PADDLE OUT FOR CHUCK ALLEN SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, FEBURARY 27 AT HUNTINGTON BEACH PIER

NSSA HOSTS PADDLE OUT FOR FOUNDER CHUCK ALLEN

(Huntington Beach, Ca – February 17, 2011) -- The sport of surfing is deeply saddened by the passing of National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) Founder Chuck Allen. A beach memorial and Paddle Out ceremony for Chuck, who also founded the United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA), will take place Sunday, February 27 at 1:00pm on the south side of Huntington Beach Pier. Huntington Beach Pier was a favorite surf break of Chuck’s where he coached the National Champion Huntington Beach High School surf team for many years. One of his greatest achievements was leading the USA Surf Team to a gold medal at the 1984 World Championships which was held in Huntington Beach. Chuck’s contribution to surfing, snowboarding and the entire action sports industry is unparalleled. His wisdom and inspiration has touched the hearts of many.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony and pay respects to one of the true legends of the action sports. Everyone is encouraged to bring a surfboard and paddle out for Chuck and/or pay their respects on the beach at the ceremony prior to the Paddle Out. Just across from Huntington Beach Pier on Main Street, you can also visit Chuck’s (along with the rest of the NSSA Founders) granite stone on the Huntington Beach Surfing Walk of Fame right in front of Jacks Surfboards.
