NSSA - National Scholastic Surfing Association

The National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage and assist its members in their interest to learn and develop the fundamentals and skills of surfing competition while competing in structured and quality events. The NSSA promotes the qualities of discipline and competitive excellence while supporting the merits of academic achievement to young surfers. The NSSA strives to provide a fun surfing experience for all of its members.

The NSSA is one of the few national youth sports organizations that require its participants to maintain academic standards in order to compete. Since 1978, the NSSA program philosophy has been that athletics and scholastics go hand in hand. More than 80 NSSA events are run nationwide that culminate with the annual National Championships which is regarded as the highest profile youth surfing event in America.

IMPORTANT - SOUTHWEST OPEN and GOLD COAST EXPLORER EVENTS IN MAY

SOUTWEST OPEN #8 AND GOLD COAST EXPLORER #5 & #6

The above events are the final two events of the 2022-23 Season.  We need EVERYONE who will not be showing up to the event(s) to let us know BY THE DEADLINE DATE OF TUESDAY AT 5pm BEFORE EACH EVENT if you will not be there or you will forfeit the entry fees and receive zero point for the event(s).  I let everyone know at the beginning of the season to let us know if you weren't going to show up.  We have wasted a lot of time on the beach with 2 man heats when we could have made a better event for the kids who were there by having 20 min heats instead of 15 min heats.

GOLD COAST EXPLORER SEASON (below)

We will be utilizing all of Saturday for as many heats as possible and the remaining will go out Sunday.  THAT MEANS WE MIGHT BE RUNNING SOME OF EVENT #6 ON SATURDAY.  Please be prepared for that.  This is due to it being re-scheduled the weekend before the West Coast Championships start (to be precise 2 days before set up).

We would appreciate your cooperation in the above.
THANKS and let me know if you have any questions  gclifford@nssa.org
