2015 NSSA National Interscholastic Championships presented by Body Glove

45 teams in College, High School and Middle School divisions contend for National titles!

Location: Salt Creek, Dana Point, California

Date: June 13-15, 2015

Iconic Salt Creek

(Huntington Beach, Ca – June 8, 2015) – The nation’s top college, high school and middle school surf teams will converge on the picturesque shores of Salt Creek beach in Dana Point, California for the annual NSSA National Interscholastic Championships to be held June 13-15. Held at the Creek’s notorious high performance punchy beach break, 45 teams will be in the electrifying hunt to bring National title glory to their schools.

In the search of repeating their crowns of 2014 are Saddleback College in the College Championships, Kamehameha in the High School Varsity, Ventura in the High School Junior Varsity and Shorecliffs Middle School who are seeking their 12th National Championship title.

Saddleback will have fierce competition in their battle to defend with the likes of Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) who took charge during the 2014/15 regular season and backed it up with a commanding triumph at the 2015 State Championships. PLNU has won the Nationals twice, in 1989 and 1999. From the eastern seaboard, the University of North Florida (UNF) snapped UNCW’s control of the East Coast Championships in April and has a stacked lineup led by multi conference and Regional champion Corey Howell and reigning National College Womens Champion Emily Ruppert. Factor in UNF’s enthusiastic focus and determination with Howell and Ruppert at the reins and you could witness history being made if they bring home a National title to the east coast for the first time.

In the High School Championships, Kamehameha claimed Hawaii’s first National Championship in 2014 with a squaw of spirited Hawaiian surfers. Two of them won individual titles – Imaikalani DeVault in High School Mens and Cayla Moore (sister of 2-time world champion Carissa Moore) in the High School Womens. Both DeVault and Moore will be returning which makes Kamehameha a tough opponent for the rest of the 13 teams competing. Perennial National Champions San Clemente High School took a dominating victory at the State Championships in March with Conner Dand taking his second straight individual State crown and competitive standout Malia Osterkamp adding firepower to the Women’s category but they will still have their hands full with the Hawaiians. In the Middle School Championships, Shorecliffs will gun for its twelfth title over a 15 year span. Shorecliffs’ teams have been nothing short of sensational in their impressive stretch of domination and it continues in 2015 as noted by their overwhelming win at the State Championships. They are so loaded with talent their “B” and “C” teams finished in the top five of this year’s State Championships.
