SOUTHEAST/NORTH CONFERENCE WRAPS UP THE 2012-13 SEASON AT NEW SMYRNA BEACH!

NSSA SOUTHEAST/NORTH CONFERENCE

OPEN AND EXPLORER EVENT #7

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA

MARCH 17, 2013

By: Linda Johnston

It was a beautiful St Patty’s day at New Smyrna Beach Inlet for the final event of the 2012-13 Southeast/North regular season. Waves were on the small side but still fun and contestable. Noah Schweizer was the big winner of the event. The New Smyrna Beach standout scored triple victories in the Open Men's, Explorer Mens and Explorer Juniors. Noah was lighting up the scoreboard all day and delivered a red-hot performance in the Juniors final where he posted excellent 9-point rides. Cobie Gittner took a big win in the Open Juniors to close out the season which should give him confidence going into the upcoming East Coast Regional Championships. Open Boy’s competitor Robbie McCormick has put forth a fantastic surfing performance all season long. He sealed up another victory in the Boys final at this event to finish the year undefeated. Congratulations Robbie! He will be on the quest for his first NSSA championship title at the Regionals! In the Open Womens, Sydney Herring surfed an impressive final winning it on the strength of her strong 8-point ride. NSSA newcomer Lily Whatley claimed double wins in the Girls Longboard and the Open Girls. Other winners included DJ Buchanan in the Explorer Boys, Sophie Falzone in the Explorer Girls and Dylan Prestwood in the Explorer Longboard. Charlie Hajak pulled off the win in the Seniors division and is sure to be on a mission to collect more Regional titles this April. It was a great season and I look forward to seeing everyone at the 2013 East Coast Regional Championships!
