SOUTHEAST/NORTH COLLEGE EVENT 3 RESULTS: UCF WINS AGAIN!

NSSA SOUTHEAST/NORTH CONFERENCE

COLLEGE EVENT #3

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA

NOVEMBER 4, 2012

By: Linda Johnston

The third stop of the 2012-13 east coast college season witnessed the remnants of Hurricane Sandy which provided 2-3 foot surf and beautiful weather. Another large contingent of schools was on hand to battle for top honors and qualify for high rankings leading into the 2013 Regional Championship in April. The UCF (A) team took their third straight victory when for the 2012-2013 season. Young gun Corey Howell won the College Men division surfing for Brevard Community College (BCC). Howell won four titles at the 2012 East Coast Regionals and will definitely add firepower to the BCC team. Long-time NSSA competitor Kayla Durden took her first win as a College Women’s competitor competing for the University of North Florida (UNF) team.  Durden’s teammate Pat Nichols took the College Longboard final.

The UCF team has staged an exciting comeback campaign. The perennial east coast dominant team has not put together a winning season since 2004. Stay tuned as we keep track of their quest for another championship run and if other teams will step up to the plate. Southeast/North College event #4 will be held at New Smyrna Beach on December 2nd

The 2012-13 NSSA East and West coast competition season competition is proudly presented by Nike.
