NSSA SOUTHEAST/NORTH CONFERENCE
OPEN AND EXPLORER EVENT #2
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA
OCTOBER 6, 2012
By: Linda Johnston
The Southeast/North Conference event #2 was New Smyrna Beach Inlet with waist high waves and great weather. There were two double winners of the event. Noah Schweizer took command in the Explorer Mens and Juniors divisions and Robbie McCormick took home two first place decisions in the Open Juniors and Boys finals. In the premier Open Men’s category, Matt Zaccaria pulled out all the stops to take the win. Chase Elmore claimed his first win of the season in the Meneheune Division. The Explorer Boys final witnessed a close battle for first between DJ Buchanan and Patrick Conklin. DJ ended up taking the win by a fraction of a point.
Other Open winners included Kaleb Kirschenbaum in the Mini Groms, Sophie Falzone in the Girls and Sydney Herring in the Womens. In the Explorer divisions, additional winners included Kara Brown in the Womens, Braidyn Cunningham in the Girls, Eric Worley in the Masters and Jay Smith in the Super Seniors. And congratulations to Dylan Prestwood who clinched his second consecutive win of the season in the Longboard division. Next Contest for the Expl/Open Divisons will be on November 10th back at NSB Inlet.
Another fantastic event is in the books and we look forward seeing everyone back at New Smyrna Beach Inlet for Open and Explorer event #3 on November 10th.
The 2012-13 NSSA East and West coast competition season is proudly presented by Nike.
