NSSA - National Scholastic Surfing Association

The National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage and assist its members in their interest to learn and develop the fundamentals and skills of surfing competition while competing in structured and quality events. The NSSA promotes the qualities of discipline and competitive excellence while supporting the merits of academic achievement to young surfers. The NSSA strives to provide a fun surfing experience for all of its members.

The NSSA is one of the few national youth sports organizations that require its participants to maintain academic standards in order to compete. Since 1978, the NSSA program philosophy has been that athletics and scholastics go hand in hand. More than 80 NSSA events are run nationwide that culminate with the annual National Championships which is regarded as the highest profile youth surfing event in America.

COREY HOWELL STEALS THE SHOW WINNING FOUR TITLES!

--The 20th annual NSSA East Coast Championships (ECC) presented by Nike saw over 400 hundred east coast surfers compete for Regional titles in one of the largest fields to compete at a Regional Championship event.

--Corey Howell cleaned house grabbing four Regional titles in the premier Open Men’s category, Explorer Mens, High School Mens and Airshow

--Daniel Glenn was on fire in his home break successfully defending his Open Juniors Regional title. Glenn also had an impressive runner-up finish in the Open Mens.

--12-year-olds Luke Gordon and Stevie Pittman step up their games making the final in the highly competitive Open Juniors division.

--Luke Gordon pulls off a successful 3-peat taking the Open Boys Regional title three straight years

--Brother-sister act Luke and Katie Gordon combine for two Open Regional victories in Open Boys and Open Girls.

--Tommy Coleman steps up in the 10 & under divisions winning both the Mini Grom and Super Grom titles.

--Jacksonville’s Piper Austin scores her first major victory taking the Open Women’s Regional title.

--Fisher Grant collects his second straight Regional crown in the Open Longboard category and also triumphs in the High School Championships.

--Steve Moldenhauer doubles up with Super Seniors and Longboard victories.

--Female Iron Women Jazmin Dean makes five finals.

--UNCW reigns supreme for the fourth consecutive year in the East Coast Collegiate Championships.

--Melbourne High School seals their second straight Regional Championship crown.

--Florida Tech’s Justin Ellingham nails his second straight Collegiate Men’s Regional victory.

--Corey Howell, Daniel Glenn, Stevie Pittman and Addison Miles are named Performers of the Day during the 4-day span of the East Coast Championships.

--Luke Gordon puts up big numbers making four finals in Open Juniors, Open Boys, Explorer Boys and Explorer Menehuene and also posted the only perfect 10 of the East Coast Championships in the Open Boys Semis
